Discover the standout shades defining the season. From punchy condiment-inspired hues to lively neons and cosy mocha tones, these six colours are shaping autumn and winter wardrobes everywhere. Embrace boldness, nostalgia, and warmth as you experiment with this season’s most talked-about palettes.

The Arrival of Layering Season

As autumn approaches, we enter the much-anticipated layering season—think scarves, boots, and versatile layers. You may already have some of this season’s top colours in your wardrobe; now it’s all about creative styling as we transition to cooler days. But if you do not, I am loving sustainable high street brands such as Nobody’s Child and M&S interpretations.

“Mocha Mousse”

This trend revolves around delicious brown tones—deep chocolate, toffee caramel, and creamy beige—that have taken the catwalk by storm. Whether in the form of a satin evening dress, an oversized trench, or accessories like bucket bags, wide belts, or slouch boots, mocha hues evoke images of indulgent desserts and coffee moments. Luxury brands like Miu Miu and Hermès are leading the way with these shades.

Tomato-Red

Reminiscent of a bowl of warming Ghanaian light soup or juicy Santini tomatoes, tomato-red is a vibrant, lycopene-rich colour that can refresh any outfit. Use it as a striking accent in a black-and-white look or make it the centrepiece with a wool duster coat. Prada and Louis Vuitton showcase bold interpretations of this hue.

Neon Yellow/Green

Though reminiscent of hi-viz vests or workwear, neon yellow and green can be worn stylishly when used thoughtfully. Try them as an accessory, underwear, or go bold with a statement dress, as seen on the August Vogue cover with Doechii. This colour even brings a playful energy to jelly sandals.

In the Pink

Pink hues offer a cheerful boost as days grow shorter. From salmon to watermelon, these shades brighten up any ensemble, whether you opt for ballet pumps, silk slip dresses, trousers, or blouses. Choose the shade and texture that makes you feel “in the pink.” Simona Rocha, Miu Miu, each offer their own interpretation of this.

Condiment Core

Inspired by picnic tables and kitchen cupboards, “Condiment Core” is a playful trend seen in mustard yellows. This familiar, punchy shade brings nostalgia and character to basics—think mustard scarves, knits, boots and coats. Mixing tone creates maximum character with minimal effort.

Autumnal Pastel Hues

For those seeking colour but craving subtlety, autumn’s pastels offer a sweet, sherbet-like option. Soft, muted tones provide a gentle and refreshing alternative for those who want a lighter approach to seasonal colour. Dior, McQueen, and SIR each offer their own distinctive interpretations of this concept.
